Why take a course to build your own website?
2021 is the year to own your content online. Want to start a great-looking blog that can earn you income? Need a website for your small business? Looking to get your portfolio noticed when applying for jobs or bidding on freelance contracts? Learn to do it yourself so you can build exactly what you want, and maintain it without paying someone for every little change. Plus, knowing how to manage a WordPress site is one of the hottest skills on the job market today.
Need a friend-on-the-internet to show you WordPress basics?
Let me help! I’ve developed three different online website courses which will guide you step-by-step towards the launch of your professional WordPress site. With video and written content, I’ve accounted for different learning styles so you can go through the material at your own pace. Your only homework? Making your site!
I’m offering 3 types of website courses + an all-access pass.
How to Build a Blog Course
My How to Build a Blog course is perfect for online influencers who are looking to express themselves through their own blog. This type of website is suitable for authors and current or aspiring opinion leaders.
This course is also great for people who already have a following on other social media platforms, but need their own site to complement their online activities. The lesson plan will include a chapter on monetizing your blog.
How to Build a Portfolio Course
The How to Build a Portfolio course is designed for artists, makers, and freelancers who are job-hunting, applying to schools, looking for clients, or need a place to present their work in an attractive and professional way.
This course includes a component on storing and organizing large files and quantities of content as well as one on marketing yourself to make your work attract the right people.
How to Build a Website Course
The course on How to Build a Website is designed for people who need a static site for their personal profile, side gigs, or for their new business.
While not the focus, it includes how to add a blog to your site if/when you want to, and an introduction to selling digital or physical products on your site.
Unsure which course is right for you? I’ve created the All-Access Pass so you can access three website courses for the price of two. Please note that some of the content is identical, but the key lessons on customization are specific to each website type.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does your course include the cost of building and hosting a website?
No. WordPress is a free software and you can find free themes and plugins online. But you will have to purchase web hosting and a domain name to get your website online. I will always do my best to recommend good, free options when possible.
How do I know which course is for me?
This is a great question, since many websites may have multiple purposes. Please read each course description carefully. If that doesn’t help, you can send me a note and explain what you are hoping to create and I can guide you. If you’re still unsure, I’ve created my All Access Pass, so you can view all three courses, at any time!
Will I be able to access the course material after I’ve gone through all the lessons?
Yes! You can access the course material for one whole calendar year guaranteed from the moment you purchase a course.
What level of WordPress user are these for?
I’ve designed these courses for beginners. If you’ve always wanted to have your own website and need a friend on the internet to sit down and guide you through it, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve also created this course with WordPress editors in mind, meaning, people who have used WordPress as a blogger before, but want to know how to build their own website from the ground up.
