Hello!
Welcome to the guide to working with Andrea.
Why create a README?
As a remote team, I believe in being intentional about creating relationships that will help us work together. Documenting and sharing our work styles, preferences, expectations, and quirks can accelerate the learning curve and help us all be more efficient.
I also want working together to be extremely energizing, rewarding, and fun.
But efficiency isn’t everything. I also want working together to be extremely energizing, rewarding, and fun. Hopefully, this document can help you get a sense of who I am as a person and a professional, so we can make awesome things together.

When am I online?
When am I not? I try to stick to a 9-5, but I’m also a night owl, so you’re more likely to catch me online at 8 PM than 8 AM. If I appear offline on Slack or my notifications are snoozed, feel free to ping me anyway.
If it’s urgent, I’ll see it, and if not, I will reply when I’ve clocked in. Never feel bad messaging me in my off-hours. I believe the onus is on me to mute or ignore my notifications, not for you to do timezone math before sending me a note.
How should you contact me?
So many channels, each with their pros and cons, amiright?
Slack
Slack is by far the best place to reach me. But ideally, anything you ask me for would be connected to a Jira task or a Trello card for reference. You can also schedule a Slack Chat with me. It’s like a meeting, but text-based.
Trello
My favourite place along with Slack to track my work. Mention me or add me to a card!
Jira
Absolutely fine to ping me in Jira, although I’m a little slower receiving the notifications.
Video calls
I like calls for catchups, brainstorms, going over multiple topics, and debriefs. I do prefer having a heads up though since video calls can be all-consuming and impact how I schedule my day.
I use email for communicating with people outside of Kinsta or for situations that need to be documented outside of Slack or another work app.
I believe the onus is on me to mute or ignore my notifications, not for you to do timezone math before sending me a note.
Ways I can help you
You want a second pair of eyes on something
I am usually very reachable and welcome random pings to walk through ideas, get a second pair of eyes, or for quick asks. I’ll usually see the ping, and determine if I need to or can address it right away. If it requires a more thoughtful answer, or if I think this should be part of a bigger conversation, I’ll let you know.
In the same vein, I’m often guilty of the “drive by comment”, where I stick my nose in things on the fly, so you may get that input without asking for it.
You want to brainstorm or have a new not-fully-fleshed-out idea to discuss
I’ve worn pretty much every hat in marketing before. I love looking at marketing initiatives as a whole and welcome the opportunity to talk about a new project or idea. Feel free to ping me on Slack or invite me to a meeting you would like me in.
How much heads up do I need?
Not that much. If you have a deadline in mind, don’t be shy about letting me know or asking me to commit to a date.
I may not be aware of how urgently you need something and genuinely just require a little nudge.
Never feel bad about coming at me with a last-minute request. I will let you know if it’s doable or an alternative solution within the timeframe.
If I’ve dropped the ball or you need something from me yesterday, let me know. I may not be aware of how urgently you need something and genuinely just require a little nudge.
Who am I as a person?
- I live in Montreal, Canada and grew up speaking English, French, and Franglais.
- I’m the youngest of 6 children and have 18 nieces and nephews.
- I am all over the place with my media preferences. I listen to hip-hop and early baroque music (a little harpsichord anyone?), I like Star Trek and 90-Day Fiancé.
- I eat primarily plant-based, which is such a downer for everyone around me because I live in a city fueled by the buttery, meaty combo of American-French fusion. I drink a lot of coffee, sparkling water, and red wine. I tried getting into tea, the attempts never last.
- Between my boyfriend and I, we have homes in Kansas, Hong Kong, and Montreal. When the pandemic is “over”, we’ll resume our rotation.
- I have a travel blog about packing hacks for travel. It’s also my testing ground for all things WordPress-related.
